Engineers Dominate IIMB’s EPGP Class of 2017-18

The Executive Post Graduate Programme (EPGP) Class of 2017-18 at IIM Bangalore, inaugurated on March 31, 2017, comprises 73 students with an average GMAT score of 709.

While Engineering forms the educational background of the majority 68 students, 17 are from IITs & NITs, 2 each from Commerce and Science and 1 from Arts.

The Class has a gender ratio of 22 female (30%) and 51 male (70%). In terms of work experience, the maximum is 116 months (9 years and 8 months) and the minimum 53 months (4 years and 5 months) with the average at 83 months (6 years and 11 months). It also has 30% of students with international experience.

The EPGP provides students with the same solid foundation in key management concepts and disciplines as a two-year MBA, with similar rigour, a range of electives, and grading criteria. A key advantage of the EPGP is that the course work builds on the diverse and extensive work experience of the students.

In Industry background, 22% of students are from Manufacturing followed by 18% in IT Services and 16% Oil/Energy/Petroleum. Those with IT products background form 11% followed by 10% each in Banks/Financial Institutions and Engineering, Others are at 8%, Telecom 3% besides Financial Services and FMCG/Retail at 1% each.

In Organization type, 73% are from Private sector followed by 23% Public sector, 3% Autonomous and 1% Government.

The full-time Executive Post Graduate Programme (EPGP) is an intensive one-year residential programme created specifically for professionals with remarkable track records and 5 to 12 years of work experience in a wide range of industries.

The EPGP provides students with the same solid foundation in key management concepts and disciplines as a two-year MBA, with similar rigour, a range of electives, and grading criteria. A key advantage of the EPGP is that the course work builds on the diverse and extensive work experience of the students.

The program is designed to meet the increasing need of companies for skilled mid-level and senior executives who have the vision and potential to attain top leadership positions. While deep functional and operational expertise is a prerequisite for such executives, their success is also contingent on their ability to perceive and analyse a situation from multiple perspectives and take timely and effective action.

Along with innovative content, EPGP includes an international immersion and ‘Shikshu’, an alumni mentoring experience besides a seminar series.
