Ahmedabad University Partners Rady to launch Global Executive MBA in Pharma

The Ahmedabad University, a private, non-profit university, in collaboration with University of California San Diego’s Rady School of Management has launched a Global Executive MBA program in Pharmaceutical Management for working professionals in the sector.

The Application Process has already started on July 1 with the program scheduled to commence on September 29, 2018.

The customised and rigorous 2-year degree program is offered with 9 residencies in Ahmedabad totalling 53 days. The inter-residency sessions will be conducted over a digital medium thus enabling the participants to continue working while pursuing the MBA.

The program aims to empower management teams with leadership capabilities to enhance decision making and sharpen execution throughout the pharmaceutical value chain. It is designed to engage pharmaceutical professionals in intense interaction with experienced colleagues and faculty on key issues affecting pharmaceutical and life sciences innovation and drug delivery.

The delivery method includes Master Classes, Case Studies, Simulations, Collaborative Workshops, One-on-One Coaching and Capstone Projects. The program is designed to enable participants to continually enhance their professional performance while simultaneously sharpening their domain and managerial perspectives.

The school says the USP of the program is its depth of contextualisation in the domains of Biological and Life Sciences, Pharmaceutical Research & Development, Manufacturing, Operations, Sales and Marketing functions, all in the backdrop of the regulatory landscape of the pharmaceutical industry.

The faculty has members from India and abroad, including the University of California San Diego with specialisation in business leadership, management, digital and medical technology, biological and life sciences and pharmaceutical sectors. The participants will acquire capabilities in strategic and leadership excellence, aligning R&D and technology levers to commercial operations, building organisational agility for leadership in the pharmaceutical industry over a sustainable horizon.

The Program Fee is Rs 4.5 Lakh per year. The cost is inclusive of hotel stay during the residency period but is exclusive of airfare charges. Female candidates will be provided with a discount of 10% on the total fees.

On completion of the program, the students will be awarded an MBA Degree by Ahmedabad University along with a Certificate by the Rady School of Management.

With the Indian pharmaceuticals market projected to grow to US$ 55 billion by 2020, comparable to all developed markets except the US, Japan and China, the country’s biotechnology industry is expected to grow at an average rate of around 30% annually to reach US$ 100 billion by 2025.

A recent McKinsey study had stated that the Indian pharmaceuticals market was projected to grow to USD 55 billion by 2020, a level comparable to all developed markets other than the US, Japan 

and China.

India’s biotechnology industry comprising bio-pharmaceuticals, bio-services, bio-agriculture, bio-industry and bioinformatics is expected to grow at an average growth rate of around 30% a year to reach US$ 100 billion by 2025. The sector is expected to open up employment opportunities for management professionals with the requisite expertise in the sector.

Admission Process

For the Executive Education program, the admission process is divided into 2 parts. In Part A, applicants will be shortlisted on the basis of details provided in the application form and their Statement of Purpose. The short-listed candidates will move to Part B of the process.

Part B comprises Ahmedabad University Executive Admission Test (AUEAT) and Personal Interaction. The shortlisted applicants will have to appear for an Online Entrance Test that will evaluate their aptitude with questions on logical reasoning, written & verbal communication and quantitative skills.

Applicants will also have to appear for a personal interaction with a faculty panel from the University. This interaction can also be arranged via video conferencing for those unable to travel to Ahmedabad, the University says. (Image Source: wikipedia.org)
