While applying for admission to the 15-month full-time PGDM (Executive) Program at IMT Ghaziabad, you would be wanting to know how the program would help improve your knowledge and skillsets and boost your career to the next level. Keeping in with your requirements, IMT has ensured that the curriculum of the AICTE & AASCB accredited 15-month full-time program remains contemporary in all aspects. Special care is taken to lay a proper foundation for the students in core subjects. Along with theoretical learning, practical aspects are taken care of in many ways through case studies, simulations and real-life projects.

Debates and discussions take place not only among peer groups but also with senior executives of top organizations and start-ups. Consulting projects, courses and workshops also are also among the wide range of learning techniques. The learning and pedagogy experience in the PGDM Executive encompass a broad range of learning techniques including Case studies, simulations and real-life projects, the Global Career Accelerator (GCA) as part of the program brings a 4-6-week international immersion with leading business schools in Europe provides the students with a rare opportunity to view international management practices at close quarters.

Now, let us see how each of these elements come into play at various stages of the program.

PGDM (Executive) Program Structure

As a fresh entrant, you begin with a five-week Orientation Module in October-November comprising Financial Reporting & Analysis (20 hours), Presentation Skills (20 hours) and Quantitative Methods (20 hours).

The program has 6 different modules, namely, Customization, Dissertation, Functional, Foundation, Integration and Internationalization

The internationalisation part of the program comes during the student exchange between IMT and selected European schools for a few weeks during the program as also the international immersion during the “Global Career accelerator.” It involves the students spending one term at the partner institution that include EM Normandie, France, IESEG School of Management, Paris and Copenhagen Business School, Denmark.

The 9-week-long Term 1 from December to February is devoted to laying the Foundation. Apart from core tops like Management Accounting and Economics, you have Decision Sciences, Legal Aspects of Business and Communication for Management. It also includes a Profile Mapping Workshop, Resume Building Workshop, Spreadsheet Modelling and Personal Growth lab.

Term 2 (February-April) is the first of the two Functional terms. The topics are: Corporate Finance, Operations Management, Individual & Group Dynamics, Macro Economics for Managers, Marketing Management and Business Research Methods.

Term 6 (October-November) is Integration. The topics are Cross functional Simulation, Entrepreneurship Management Workshop, Negotiation Skills, Responsible Leadership, Leading and Managing Change, Fintech – Block Chain & Crypto and Finding Career Opportunities workshop.

How the PGDM (Executive) Program Structure Helps Learning

How do these help students?

The foundation is laid at the beginning of the program with students learning the basic management principles through the core subjects. Customization allows the students the freedom to choose a specialization by way of electives. While the PGDM (Executive) is essentially a General Management Program, in the fourth term, you get to pick one from among four specializations. These are Marketing, Information Management, Operations & Supply Chain Management and Human Resources Management.

Past participants are full of praise for the choice of specializations. Ravi Purohit, 30, (2017-18 batch) a B.Tech (Mechanical) engineer with six years’ work experience in elevator industries and auto/auto ancillary units. He chose Marketing Analytics as an elective. He says learning at IMT had broadened his horizons, improved his decision making and helped him connect the dots in how management decisions affect the various stakeholders right from Finance to HR to Supply Chain and vendors.

It is not a mere theory that is being taught in the classroom. Functional aspects are taken care of by involving students in a wide range of industrial projects all the way from planning to execution.

There are targeted workshops with the aim of skill-building like 6 Sigma and project management, aligned with the career goal of the students. There are also personal growth labs & assessment centres for better understating of own self, strength & development path. A number of in campus activities such as “IMTheInnovator” a Startup Exhibition, Expanding Horizons, an industry interaction and Personal Growth Lab, help in honing the student’s skills and boost their confidence when called upon to take complex decisions in their future career. Every student is required to submit a dissertation in the last term of the program. Working on the dissertation thus becomes an integral part of the learning experience.

International Immersion

The internationalization part of the program comes during the student exchange between IMT and selected European schools for a few weeks during the program as also the international immersion during the “Global Career accelerator.”

It involves the students spending one term at the partner institution that includes EM Normandie, France, IESEG School of Management, Paris and Copenhagen Business School, Denmark.

The modules of the program blend in components of skills, knowledge and attitude with innovative topics like cross-culture business negotiation, design thinking, critical thinking, execution, data modelling, to name a few.

According to an IMT spokesperson, the students rate the immersion as an excellent opportunity to get exposure on international business settings. They are able to better understand and appreciate the diversity of consumer groups, to build up an understanding of the global marketing environment and learn different approaches to handle employee performance.

The students gained awareness about the highly competitive business scenario in Europe– how various European companies (majorly Swedish) strategize to stay ahead of the competition. They also received fair learning on major corporate entities such as Ericsson, IKEA and Volvo. The students are awarded scores while participating in the immersion modules.

Debanjan Sarkar, 29, of the PGDM (Executive) 2019-20 batch with Information Technology as an elective, says during the one-month international immersion at Copenhagen business school in Denmark the group learnt several things including the basics of data analytics. An industry visit to IBM and others opened a window to day-to-day operations of major firms in an international setting and how they deal with issues and resolve them.

Why Should You Enrol in PGDM-Ex program at IMT Ghaziabad
