Finance & Technology Best Paymasters For MBAs In Europe

Finance and Technology sectors were found to be the best paymasters with MBA graduates from Cambridge’s Judge Business School managing to get the highest salary in both domains, according to a survey by salary benchmark site Emolument.com.

Return of Investment (ROI) is a major consideration for anyone choosing to go in for an MBA, shelling out, in most cases, up to GBP 7800 for a 2-year program. So, the salary increase has to be roughly around GBP 100,000 to make it worthwhile.

While 48% of the students from Judge chose Finance to draw a median salary of GBP 110,000, University of St. Gallen came second with as many as 70% of the graduates finding placement and drawing median salary of GBP 106,000 and. INSEAD was third with 36% of graduates drawing a median salary of GBP 100,000.

Interestingly, while Judge graduates drew median bonus of GBP 34,000, INSEAD was in the second spot with GBP 30,000 while St. Gallen was pushed to third place with GBP 14,000.

In Technology sector, Judge School once again occupied the first rank with 20% of the graduates joining firms drawing a median salary of GBP 95,000 and median bonus of GBP 20,000.

INSEAD was in the second spot with 11% of its graduates in the sector with a median salary of GBP 90,000 and median bonus of GBP 17,000. London Business School (LBS) was third with 13% of its graduates drawing a median salary of GBP 80,000 and median bonus of GBP 10,000.

The survey found that salaries and bonuses in finance sector exceed those in technology or consulting by GBP 30,000 on an average.

Imperial College Business School had 23% of the graduates in consulting but at lower salaries than those from INSEAD or LBS.
