All candidates appearing for IBSAT 2019 should bear in mind that they need to get their scores above the cut off, the minimum marks needed to make it to the shortlist for the next round of the admission process. Those who score marks below the cut off level would not be able to get admission to the MBA/PGPM programs at any of the 9 affiliated IBS business schools.

The cut offs, declared by the participating IBS Business Schools, varies from school to school but is generally around 65-75 as in the case of IBS, Hyderabad.

Those who score above the IBSAT cut off move to the next round in the admission process, namely, the Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI). Later, after a counseling session, candidates get shortlisted for a spot in the merit list. The final selections is on the basis of the marks you score in the IBSAT entrance test, GD & PI.

IBSAT Selection Process

  1. On the basis of IBSAT 2019 cut offs, candidates will be shortlisted for the selection briefings
  2. The selection briefings comprise a series of focused seminars. The aim of these seminars is to provide the candidate an insight into programs and processes at IBS
  3. The process of selection briefings will be conducted across 40 locations from January 13-20, 2020
  4. Candidates qualified based on IBSAT 2019 cut offs and other popular MBA entrance exams like CAT/ GMAT/ NMAT by GMAC cut offs are also called for the selection process at IBS Hyderabad campus scheduled from February 22-29, 2020.
  5. The final selection process for admission to ICFAI Business consists of Group Discussion and Personal Interview

A step by step approach to IBS Selection Rounds

  1. Slot Booking: Once you make it to the list of candidates who have scored the marks needed for IBSAT 2019 cut offs, you should book a slot to get the call for the next rounds of the admission process. This is done by opening the IBS website and giving your preferred time, date and city for the selection briefing. Since the venue allotment is based on slots allotments, It would be advantageous to book the slot as early as possible.
  2. Selection Briefings: Selection briefings are held in 54 locations. The briefing will give you a fair idea of what to expect during the course of the program as well as the processes.
  3. GD/PI Round: After you complete the selection briefing, you move on to IBS Hyderabad for the Group Discussion/Personal Interview (GD/PI) round. Group Discussion involves the candidates divided into groups of 8-10 debating on a given topic. You are expected to put forth your views in a lucid and precise manner and also to sum up your arguments in conclusion. The Personal Interview, conducted by the selection committee, is to assess your communication skills, general knowledge and clarity of thought, among other things.

Final Merit List- The final merit list is made, taking into account individual candidate’s performance in IBSAT or CAT / GMAT / NMAT, GDPI and past academic performance.

IBSAT 2019 Merit List

The merit list is prepared separately by each School, on the basis of the candidate’s performance in IBSAT 2019 exam. IBSAT scorecard will carry the merit position, sectional score and overall marks. In instances where two candidates score equal marks, an inter-se-merit will be prepared.
