PGPX 6th Batch Commences Classes at IIM Udaipur

The 6th batch of the one-year full-time Post Graduate Programme for Executives (PGPX) in Supply Chain Management program started classes on January 1, 2018.

The 18-member batch comprises 12 men and 6 women giving the class a gender diversity ratio of 2:1. They are experienced professionals from diversified sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing, IT and fashion. IIMU said in a release.

IIMU Director Prof. Janat Shah was the Chief Guest at the inaugural ceremony. In his inaugural address, Prof. Shah described the PGPX as one of the exclusive offerings of IIMU.

Students graduate with an MS-GSCM degree from Purdue and a Post Graduate Diploma for Executives with a specialization in GSCM from IIM Udaipur.

The participants with extremely varied industry exposure undergo an intensive one-year on-campus learning experience enabling a holistic transformation of their perspective.

Among the highlights of the program is a full semester of five months at Purdue University giving students a valuable opportunity to understand the nuances of the global supply chain system.

Prof Shah, one of the best management thinkers of India, also informed the audience about the supply chain and how disruptions and distractions in supply chain management were making the entire value chain competitive.

This, coupled with the shortage of skilled and employable talent, provided huge opportunities for an enriching career in the field of supply chain, he added.

Prof. Shah pointed out that among all the exciting times in the industry, what remains valid through generations is hard work, the right attitude, self-discipline and ability to put the goal before the needs.

A testimony of hard work and determination, he said, was the shifting of the institute to a new campus in record time and being one of the fastest of all the new IIMs to have a fully equipped campus.

He said his vision was to make IIMU, a one of its kind research-oriented institutes in India. This was evident from the rankings given by UT Dallas placing IIMU in the third position in the field of research.

The PGPX at IIMU is a dual degree program in partnership with the Krannert School of Management at Purdue University in the United States, one of the world leaders in the SCM domain.

Although referred to as a one year MBA, the program spreads over 15 months. The students start the program in January and graduate in March of the following year.

While the PGPX provides a thorough grounding in management fundamentals, it is the only one year MBA that offers an intensive specialization in Global Supply Chain Management.

Unlike other one year programs which include a short international component, PGPX offers a full semester of five months at Purdue University where students have access to world-class faculty and facilities and the chance to learn and work with students from all parts of the world.

It is designed specifically for students with diverse and extensive work experience – a minimum of 2.5 years. Their experience is integrated into all aspects of the program including coursework, projects, and company interactions.

  • Hello!
I am a marine engineer, currently sailing with Mitsui OSK Lines as a Third Assistant Engineer.
While going for PGPX programs,do the college's count our "sea time" only as the work experience? Because unlike the normal shore working guys,we don't have the luxury of weekends or holidays on board!
Also, will they count our sea time as a junior engineer or a trainee engineer on board?
As of now,I have a sea time of 13 months, excluding my trainee engineer time.
    In anticipation of your reply.
    Best regards

  • Hi Abhishek

I trust you have a relevant experience of 12+13 months i.e 25 months including your stint as a graduate engineer trainee and sea time engineer.

IIM Udaipur PGPX program requires a minimum relevant experience of 2.5 years, with a valid GMAT score. However, its a rolling admission here and you can apply till November 2018. Your unique profile would be an added advantage to your aspiration.

    Good luck!
