January 28^th, 2022; Udaipur:  Indian Institute of Management Udaipur concluded Campus Recruitment Program 2021-2022 for its One-Year Full-Time MBA in Digital Enterprise Management batch with 100% placement record for the second consecutive year. The Program was started in 2020 and is India’s only One-Year Full Time MBA in Digital Domain, and as such is a unique offering in the new digital world of business. A total of 128 roles were floated to the students and a total of 47 companies participated in the placement season. The Institute shared Topline findings. IIM Udaipur is only the 4^th IIM that is part of IPRS and will be sharing externally audited placement report after completion of the audit.

The premier B-school announced that the size of this year’s batch was significantly increased over the inaugural batch last year. It consists of 26 students with 3-5 years of work experience, and 11 students with 5+ years of work experience. The average work experience of the cohort is 55 months. The minimum work experience mandatory for doing the course is 3 years.

The students bagged some of the most sought-after roles in highly relevant domains like Digital Strategy, Digital Transformation, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Digital Experience, and Cloud.

Majors Tech companies such as Accenture Technology, Cognizant, EXL, Innover Digital, Conga, and other companies in the IT Services and IT consulting domain offered sector specific roles. TransWorld Group of Companies offered international roles in Digital Marketing, Analytics, and Corporate Strategy roles.

Companies including Accenture Strategy, IBM, Cognizant, Thoucentric, TheMathCompany, and Lumiq offered both Technology and Management consulting roles. Retail and ecommerce companies like Reliance Digital and Flipkart, and enterprise analytics companies like LatentView Analytics offered analytics roles. Companies including Publicis Sapient, Digite, Accolite Digital, and Decimal Technologies offered product roles. IT Services and IT consulting majors including Thoughtworks, Mphasis, Infosys Consulting also participated in the recruitment drive

Curriculum Design – First Year

The first year provides students with a thorough foundation in management fundamentals through compulsory core courses that cover key tools, concepts, and skills that are used in all major functional areas as well as in subjects such as business strategy and ethics, which are spread across disciplines.

IIMU has identified the following areas that are to be covered by the core courses:

• Foundation courses that focus upon building the knowledge and analytical skills that enable the understanding of business studies and its functional areas
• Functional courses that emulate the fundamentals of business and management studies to equip students to be able to understand complex and advanced concepts
• Integrative courses allow a student to understand the development and working of organizations and the problems they face, and how different functions relate to each other
• Skill Building courses that train an individual to develop a variety of skills and tools to allow better decision making and management and to continue polishing it throughout the study of such courses
• Perspective courses that integrate fundamental and functional knowledge as management professionals are expected to know how to be multi-dimensional regarding problems and solutions, which will train students for the professional world as well

Summer Internships

Students have to complete a two-month corporate internship with companies at different locations and work on projects and tasks that are similar to those they would have been engaged in when they graduate and get recruited.

There is a thorough evaluation process which includes:

(a) Company’s feedback in the form of the corporate mentor’s assessment

(b) Mentor’s assessment at IIMU at three stages during the internship:

• at the initial stage when the work plan is being developed
• at the midpoint, which helps identify and resolve any problems that exist
• at the very end to evaluate the deliverables and achievements

Curriculum Design – Second Year

After students complete their core courses, the second year enables the students a chance to tailor their curriculum according to their interests and passions. Elective courses are offered in all of the major functional areas along with the provision of multi-disciplinary courses like Entrepreneurship and Management Consulting.

One of the elective options available is the Innovative International Business in Practice (IBP), in which 5-6 students, by forming a team, undertake a two-week live project of a multinational company in pristine locations like Bangkok, Dubai, and Singapore.

Students are also given the option of undertaking a Course of Independent Study (CIS), which allows them to delve deeper into the subject of their interest under faculty supervision and learn more about it. One CIS is considered equal to a 4 credit course or 30 hours of classroom teaching, and the students can take up to 2 CISs in their second year.

A compulsory course is offered in the second year is the Capstone that emphasizes the philosophy of immersion and application orientation of the institution. Capstone uses technology to create a simulation to promote decision-making scenarios which students can use to test and assess their understanding of the business environment. Some students also spend a full semester abroad as a part of the Student Exchange Program (STEP) to pursue their interests.

Pedagogy

The method of instruction is different for different courses, with case studies being the predominant method for most ones. Apart from that, there are group and individual projects, student presentations, simulation games, etc., are used to make learning efficient and effective. Many courses also bring in industry experts to integrate classroom learning with industry practice for a holistic effect.

Before the classes, a majority of them are based on discussions around a specific topic assigned before each class. Prior to the start of each trimester, students are given material for each class and are expected to read through the material before the class and have a preliminary discussion in their study groups.

During the class, the students are expected to participate and make a significant contribution. The faculty monitors the students’ contributions and ensures a distribution of opportunity for everyone to participate throughout the course.

Students who have prior work experience will have an opportunity to bring their perspective of work experience to the classroom, which will substantially enrich the discussions in the classroom.

The students’ ability to assimilate the discussion in class and its nuances is tested in various ways after class by Projects, Problem-based learning, Simulations, Refection papers, Quizzes, and Mid-term and End-term exams.

Financial Assistance

IIM Udaipur has made attempts to ensure that no student is deprived of education at the Institute due to financial reasons. Students who have a yearly household income lower than Rs.4,50,000 are eligible to apply for financial assistance. Other students can also apply if they can demonstrate severe financial difficulties in their household.

Financial assistance is granted as tuition waivers in the IIM MBA course fees; the amount is determined depending upon the assessment of the student’s need.

Loans

Many major banks in India provide funding to cover most of the tuition and the MBA course fees for students. All the details regarding rates of interest and other loan conditions should be confirmed directly when in communication with the banks.

To be eligible for the short-list, the candidate must have cleared their 10 & 12th with the minimum pass percentage as required by the candidate’s said board and must have a bachelor’s degree scoring at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of candidates belonging to reserved categories of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disability (PwD) categories) awarded by any University or institution.

The batch Strength for the 10th MBA Batch (2020-2022) of the 2 year MBA at IIMU will be around 325.

IIMU Admission Criteria

The IIM Udaipur admission process consists of:

• The Common Admission Test (CAT) Examination
• Short-listing of candidates for the Personal Appearance (PA) process.
• PA contains a Written Ability Test (WAT) and Personal Interview (PI) in which the PA process will be common to all participating IIMs of the Common Admission Process (CAP).
• Declaration of Merit List based on CAT score, WAT & PI, and Profile score as given in the following tables.

IIMU Selection Criteria for Short-listing to PA (WAT & PI) process

The cut-off percentile marks for eligibility for the PA process in IIM is dependent upon the three sections and the total CAT percentile, which is given below for different categories of students:

 IIMU Selection Criteria for the Merit List

The IIM criteria for preparing the merit list will be as follows:

• CAT Score*- 55%
• Personal Appearance (WAT & PI)- 21%
• Profile- 24%

*CAT Score of the candidate will be divided by Maximum CAT Score among candidates who have applied to IIMU and attended WAT & PI. It is to be clarified that CAT Score would be used for evaluation and not CAT Percentile.

a) CAT Score: IIM Udaipur will use the score obtained in CAT 2019 examination.

b) Personal Appearance: IIM admission will consider the following inputs:

• Written Ability Test (WAT)- 6%
• Personal Interview (PI)- 15%

The applying Candidates who do not obtain certain minimum scores in the WAT & PI round will not be considered for the merit list. The minimum scores are dependent upon IIM Udaipur’s discretion.

c) Profile: The 24% component for Profile will be divided as follows:

• Academic Profile- 10%
• Work experience- 6%
• Diversity- 8%

The following will be the weightage for Academic Profile:

• 10th Standard- 2%
• 12th Standard- 2%
• Under Graduation- 4%
• CA/CS/ICWA (completed)- 2%

**Only full-time and regular work will be considered as work experience. To prove the same, the appointment letter, relieving letter, and work experience certificate have to be submitted. It is mandatory at the time of registration for the program.
