What is PGPWE Executive MBA at IIM Lucknow?

According to its official website, at its NOIDA campus, IIM Lucknow offers a two-year Post-Graduate Program in Management for Working Executives (PGPWE), previously known as Working Managers’ Program (WMP).

The program is structured to meet the learning needs and methodologies in such a way that one can continue to work and engage in formal education simultaneously. The program maintains the high standards and rigor as in all postgraduate programs in management Executive MBA at IIM Lucknow. It aims at developing strong conceptual fundamentals and skills required to manage businesses of the future. The PGPWE helps to inculcate leadership amongst participants, and foster the development of change agents to take top roles in the global business arena.

On successful completion of the program, the students get a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management For Working Executives.

Eligibility

Eligibility criteria for PGPWE are as follows

Executives with a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline or an equivalent academic pursuit (i.e., 10+2+3), with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA;

Score on any one of the following test

  • A valid GMAT score (test taken during the last 5 years);
  • CAT / XAT / GATE score for the test taken in the year 2018 onward;
  • PGP-WE Entrance Exam scheduled during the first week of February 2020 at IIML Noida Campus;

A minimum of 3 years of full-time post-qualification (after graduation) managerial/ professional experience as on March 31, 2020; (Experience Certificate or Pay Slips would be required as proof)

(The Program is open to executives of all nationalities. There is no fee for applying to the program.)

Selection process

Candidate sends duly filled Application Form along with copies of documents in support of the attainments mentioned in Eligibility Criteria.

Based on the scores in GMAT/ CAT/ XAT/ GATE/ PGP-WE Entrance Exam, candidates are shortlisted for Writing Ability Test and Personal Interview;

After Writing Ability Test & Personal Interview are done, the final score is calculated using the following components:

Fee & Scholarship

The fee for PGPWE: 2020 – 22 is INR 13,55,000 + refundable caution money of INR 5,000 + Alumni membership fee of INR 5,000 + Convocation fee INR 5,000 + Taxes as per Government of India rules.

The fee includes tuition fees, computing and networking, library services, books, and instructional resources, boarding and lodging during campus visits, and visa, travel, accommodation, and academic expenses for the international module.

One may opt-out of the campus accommodation facility (this includes dinners on Fridays and Saturdays and breakfasts on Saturdays and Sundays) during your campus visits. In that case, one will have to pay INR 14,000 less in each of the last 7 installments, after the payment of Acceptance fee of INR 75,000.

At the time of giving an offer of admission to an applicant, a last date of withdrawal will also be announced. Any withdrawal from the program by that date will attract INR 7,500/- (plus taxes as per Government of India rules) as processing fee and the remaining amount will be refunded. If the withdrawal request comes after the date of withdrawal, no money will be refunded. After joining the program, all paid fee installment amounts are non-refundable.

Course Structure

PGP-WE is a two-year program; the first year consists of four terms and the second year consists of three terms. Students come to IIM Lucknow, NOIDA Campus on Friday afternoon, and go back on Sunday afternoon, every alternative weekend. Each term, leaving Term-5, has 7 visits distributed over 3 months’ period, approximately; Term-5 has 5 campus visits on alternate weekends and a two-week International Module. For PGPWE: 2020 – 22, the classes will commence from the first week of April 2020. The details of the courses covered are given below:

A two-week immersive experience at one of the leading business schools in Europe adds to the content of the program. The International Module is designed to enhance the cross-cultural experience and broaden the understanding of global management challenges, where a deeper insight is obtained about business procedures in overseas markets. The International Module comprises academic courses, workshops, industry visits and interactions with industry leaders.

Time to complete the program

In the normal course, the program is completed in two years. However, students who fail to meet the prescribed minimum attendance or academic standards due to extenuating circumstances may be allowed two more continuous years if the PGP-WE Committee recommends so, and can complete the Program in a total of four years (maximum overall duration).
