Lisbon International MBA with a Portuguese Flavour

The Lisbon MBA International is a 1-year full-time intensive program aims at providing students with the management competencies required for today’s global business world. It is a joint-venture between two top business schools in Portugal – Católica-Lisbon and Nova SBE.

After graduating, the students receive an MBA Diploma from both schools and they also have the possibility of obtaining an MSc degree in Business Administration.

Occupying the top position in the “International Course Experience” in Europe, the Lisbon MBA is ranked the 20th best MBA program in Europe by the Financial Times Top 100 Global MBA 2017 Ranking.

A 1-month immersion at the MIT Sloan School of Management in Boston, US is among the highlights of the program. It allows the students to attend classes and provides them with networking opportunities. They will also have access to MIT’s professors, prolific libraries and learning centres, while pursuing courses specifically focused on global issues in management.

The 5th Term also includes the Business Case Competition, that requires students to work in teams on solving a real-life problem for an organization with the chance for special awards. Previous business cases include EFACEC, Grupo Pestana, UNICRE, Saphety, EDP, PT, Novabase, ES Contact and Sportzone.

MIT Faculty members visit the campus in Portugal to teach special courses and workshops. After graduating, students have access to the MIT Affiliate Status.

After completing the MBA core courses, students have a 2-month Action Learning period matching their career aspirations in Portugal or any other country. They have various options including applying for a Summer Project in a company, be part of a consultancy group in an International Lab, or start their entrepreneurial venture through Startup Lisboa.

The program has a Friday Forum aim that provides students with the opportunity to leverage their potential and the skills to live future leadership roles in a flexible and adaptable manner. The Friday Forum workshops allow them to become self-aware of their identity, beliefs and habits and the ability to handle challenging contexts and situations.

Students could also take the help of the Career Management Center is to broaden the range of career opportunities. Corporate Insight Sessions, Breakfasts with CEOs, Mock Interviews, Business Case Competition, Consulting Projects and Internships are some of the initiatives arranged by the Center.

Following the boutique MBA concept, the classes are kept small in order to maximise the learning and create a very intimate classroom where students get to interact and learn from the best faculty. They could also build stronger relationships and networks among their colleagues, MBA staff and corporate guests invited to classes and events.

Program Schedule

For those with Entrepreneur ambitions wanting to start their own company, the Entrepreneurship will offer them a chance to explore such ideas and develop practical entrepreneurial skills while taking advantage of the numerous learning opportunities, networking events with companies from the field and specialized coaching with fellow entrepreneurs.

The 4th and 5th terms from September to December will be devoted to deepening knowledge and focusing on career goals. On return to Lisbon at the end of August, students will get the opportunity to focus on a specific area of management or to diversify their skills by selecting elective courses.

In addition, they will have an integrative course that allows you to choose between working on a live consulting project or developing your own business plan. These choices will bring them closer towards their career goals, working and improving a very specific set of skills and talents. The Career Management Center will work with them to develop the perfect strategy and final training.

Fees & Other Expenses

Tuition fees for The Lisbon MBA International Full Time 2018 Program amount to €36,000. This investment includes courses, required cases and other educational materials, as well as flights and accommodation at the MIT, Boston. The fees do not include text books, living expenses and visas.

After completing the MBA, students could obtain the Master joint degree by elaborating and defending a project work under the guidance of one Professor. The Master thesis has an additional cost of €4,000.(Image Source: vimeo.com)
