Founded in 1961, IIM Calcutta – (Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta) was the 1^st Institute for postgraduate courses & research in the field of management. In year 2019, IIM Calcutta was ranked 3^rd in NIRF ranking for the top 100 B-school in India. Institute also enjoys the partnership of more than 85 institutes across the world.

The institute offers the wide range of management programs such as MBA (Master of Business Administration), MBAEx (Master of Business Administration for Executives), PGPX-VLM (Post Graduate Program for Executives for Visionary Leadership in Manufacturing), and PGD-BA (Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics), etc.

Admission Process 

The selection process at IIM Calcutta comprises the following parameters:

• CAT Score
• Performance in the Written Ability Test (WAT) conducted by IIMC
• Performance in the Personal Interview conducted by IIMC
• Past academic performance
• Quality of work experience (if any)

The final selection is based on the merit of the applicants in each category. However, aspirants must have a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA. Students appearing for their final year of graduation can also apply. The institute follows the reservation policy of the Central Educational Institutions (CEIs) for admissions.

Placement and Salary 

IIM Calcutta has a history for delivering exceptional employment opportunities to its students. The placement session starts from March after the completion of the courses. Most of the candidates at IIMC secure very attractive job offers at the end of their internships. As per the placement update, for 2019 batch, 442 participants got the job offer on the 1^st day of the recruitment process. The highest CTC offered was INR 72 Lakh/ annum; median CTC offered was INR 23.75 Lakh/ annum; and the average CTC offered was INR 25.40 Lakh/ annum.

The top companies of the world visited the IIM Calcutta for the recruitment such as Amazon, Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, McKinsey & Co., Merrill Lynch, Hindustan Unilever, Mahindra and Microsoft.

BP Poddar Scholarships & India Carbon scholarships offered for 1^st year PGDM candidates. Other scholarships like T. Thomas Scholarship sponsored by Ratan Tata Trust , HUL , Aditya Birla Group and OP Jindal Engineering & Management Scholarship are also available. Along with this, for deserving SC/ST candidates having disabilities based on their academic performance, NTPC Awards and Scholarships are also offered.

Foreign Exchange Programmes

With the AIM to provide better exposure to the students while pursuing their management studies, IIMC offers foreign exchange opportunities. Students get to spend a term in a partner foreign university or institute.
