Admission Open for AGSM full-time MBA 2021: 1st Round Deadline May 1

Admission is open for the AGSM full-time MBA program at UNSW Business School with the Round 1 application deadline on May 1 for the summer intake in January 2021.

The 16-month MBA has a limited number of seats at around 60. The school says since the seats are limited and the competition is tough, applicants should demonstrate excellence across their entire application to be considered for admission.

Application Deadlines

While the Round 1 application deadline is May 1, the offer will be sent out by May 30 and the offer acceptance deadline will be on June 30. Round 2 application deadline is June 1, offer sent by June 30 and acceptance deadline on July 30.

Round 3 deadline is on July 1, offer sent out by July 30 and acceptance deadline by August 30. Round 4 deadline is August 1, offer by August 30 and acceptance deadline on September 30.

Round 5 application deadline is September 1, offer by September 30 and acceptance deadline on October 30. Round 6 application deadline is October 1, offer October 30 and acceptance deadline on November 30.

International applicants should apply by round 6 so that they get adequate time to apply and get a student visa. The last round, Round 7 application deadline is October 30, offer by November 15 and acceptance deadline on December 15.

Eligibility Criteria

You should have an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) along with a minimum of 2 years’ managerial/professional experience after acquiring the degree. All applicants are required to present GMAT scores for the test taken within five years. Incoming students typically have a GMAT score greater than 650. the average GMAT for the incoming students in 2019 was 670.

Application Process

Once you complete and submit the online application, you will get an email with a link for a  short video interview. You will have a limited time to complete this so if you do not receive the video link after three days of submitting the application, you should get in touch with [email protected].

Ideally, you should submit the application a few days prior to the intended deadline to complete this portion of the application. The questions are designed to help the Admissions Committee learn more about you and your fit within the program.

The selection committee assesses your ability to benefit from and contribute to classroom debate based on previous work experience. A detailed CV is a requirement of the application process and should demonstrate your diverse and professional experience and leadership qualities.

Along with the application, copies of a recognized undergraduate degree, showing all grades and proof of completion/degree awarded should be submitted. The degree must be equivalent to an Australian Bachelor’s degree. Transcripts and a conferred degree in a language other than English must be accompanied by a certified English translation.

Fails in prior university studies are considered carefully by the Selection Committee. Reasons for failure should be attached for the Selection Committee to review. Exceptional career attainments acceptable to the School may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Applicants who hold a degree from Mainland China are required to obtain a China Academic Degrees & Graduate Education Development Center (CDGDC) Transcript Verification Report. An applicant who holds a degree from India should submit the semester breakdown mark sheets. A comprehensive transcript is not accepted if you wish to transfer to another program within UNSW in the future.

Your resume to be submitted along with the application should contain your full, legally recognized name; Educational qualifications (degree, name of institution, city, dates); Employment history, for each position including length of employment – month/year for start and finish, position title and department, location, city, country, organization details (i.e. products, size, annual turnover, number of staff, a detailed description of your role, responsibilities and achievements). You should also provide any details on professional memberships (e.g. CPA/CAANZ)

Personal details, including awards, prizes, personal achievements, club memberships, interests, languages, citizenship and residency should be given.

You need to arrange two referees to complete the AGSM referee report forms to support your application. Both referees should be people who know you well and be able to comment on your skills and abilities in a professional setting. However, relatives or personal friends are not permitted to act as referees.

If you are applying based on work experience, please ensure your referee reports clearly cover at least 5 out of the last 7 years (sometimes multiple referee reports are necessary to cover 5 years). AGSM reserves the right to contact referees.

All applicants should forward the referee report form to the two referees and upload the signed reports to their application.

Referees need to provide commentary on your intellectual capacity, ability to relate to others, written expression, oral expression, leadership in a team environment, self-confidence, motivation to succeed, adaptability to change, commitment to learning, natural curiosity, maturity and overall management potential.

After reviewing the applications, the selection committee may request that an applicant participates in one or two interviews. Depending on the level of detail required from the applicant, the interview will either be a ‘formal interview’, conducted by a member of the selection committee which will be approximately 30-45 minutes in length, or a ‘brief interview’ conducted by an AGSM MBA representative overseas which is approximately 5-10 minutes in length.
