Admissions Open At IIM Calcutta For 1-Year MBA (PGPEX) 2019-20

IIM Calcutta has announced the opening of admission for the 13th Batch (2019-20) PGPEX (Post Graduate Program for Executives), a one-year full-time residential program meant for executives with more than five years of professional experience.

The program provides mid-career professionals with the ideal platform to augment their existing skill sets as they endeavour to equip themselves for senior and top management roles in the industry, IIMC said on its website.

The program, since its inception in 2006, has attracted cohorts that are an eclectic mix of youth and experience. Along with classroom learning, an emphasis is placed on case discussions to provide practical experience to the students in solving real-life business problems.

Informal discussions are held on varied topics from adjunct readings to broaden individual perspectives. An immersion program helps future business leaders hone their skills while tackling real-world challenges. Individuals also make time to participate in business case competitions, branding exercises and self-interest career advancement clubs.

Admission Schedule

You will be able to download application form and brochure for applying online from June 29. The window for submission of completed application form is from July 1 to October 22.

You should possess a bachelor’s degree (minimum 10+2+3 years of formal education) or equivalent in any discipline. At least 5 years of full-time post qualification managerial/professional experience as on March 31, 2019, is needed along with a valid GMAT Score (taken within last 36 months of application date).

Along with the application form, an application fee is to be paid by demand draft/banker’s cheque. The other documents are the GMAT score card, proof of proficiency in English, if applicable, self-attested scanned copies of original certificates and mark sheets / transcripts of examinations passed/degrees obtained. You should also submit a Statement of Purpose and two Letters of Recommendation.

The names of the short-listed candidates will be announced on November, interviews will be in the third week. The names of the selected candidates will be announced in the last week of the month. The selected candidates will have to inform IIMC about accepting the offer and pay the first instalment of the fees by the second half of December.

The reporting date on campus for participants will be April 16, 2019. Registration of students for the 13th batch will be April 17-18 and the program commences on April 19.

Eligibility Criteria

You should possess a bachelor’s degree (minimum 10+2+3 years of formal education) or equivalent in any discipline. At least 5 years of full-time post qualification managerial/professional experience as on March 31, 2019, is needed along with a valid GMAT Score (taken within last 36 months of application date).

While IIMC does not use any pre-determined GMAT score, an overall assessment is made on the basis of academic background, professional experience, personal interviews, statement of purpose & recommendations.

Fees & Other Expenses

The program fee for the academic year 2019- 20 will be Rs 22,00,000 (non-refundable) or equivalent US$ for one year, plus tax as applicable, payable in four instalments.

The first instalment of Rs 4,00,000 (plus tax as applicable) should be paid by December 24 (or last date of acceptance). The second instalment of Rs 5,00,000 (plus tax) should be paid by April 17-18, 2019. The third instalment of Rs 7,00,000 (plus tax) is to be paid by July 25 and the fourth instalment of Rs 6,00,000 (plus tax) by November 28.

An amount of Rs 20,000 has to be paid as refundable caution deposit at the time of registration. (Students provided with family accommodation will have to pay an extra Rs 48,000 plus tax as applicable).

The program fee includes tuition fees, cost of study material, accommodation and cost of study tours organised by IIMC. Airfare, visa and medical insurance charges for overseas study tours will be borne by the Institute. However, students will have to bear the expenses for food, personal travel, electricity, cable TV, other utility and misc., expenses and any other expenses of personal nature during their stay in the campus or abroad.
