CII And GE India Pitch In With ISB To Start Compliance Management Program

Compliance no longer remains just a regulatory and statutory requirement and a compliance officer needs to move from operating in isolation to being a strategic business partner, making compliance a competitive advantage for the organization.

The Indian School of Business (ISB) has teamed up with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and GE India to offer a two-phased 10-day-long Compliance Management Programme from July 9-13 with the phase 1 being held at ISB’s Mohali campus and phase 2 from August 7-12 at the Hyderabad campus.

While the program costs Rs.3,50,000, following the contribution of GE India and the CII, it is being offered at a special rate of Rs. 2,25,000 per participant plus service tax, for the inaugural batch, ISB said in a release.

The growing importance of Compliance Officer is reflected in the fact that those companies having embraced compliance as a core principle had 17% higher revenues, 14% higher profits, 18% higher customer satisfaction and 17% higher customer retention and spend 50% less on compliance-related costs, as substantiated by the study ‘Improving Results for Legal Custody of Information’ by ITPolicycompliance.com, the release added.

The program is aimed at full time/part time compliance officers and professionals who intend to take up such a role in the near future.

The functions encompass Human Resources, Company Secretaries, Finance, Quality, Legal, Regulatory besides Environment Health and Safety.

The industries include Compliance Consultancy Firms, Manufacturing, especially SMEs and suppliers to global programmes, Pharmaceuticals, IT companies, growth phase start-ups from all industries, Public Sector Enterprises, SMEs and hospitality.

The participants would learn how to build an effective compliance programme, understand nuances of Prevention, Detention and Response tools and the legal landscape governing the same.

They would be able to position and enable compliance to be a strategic business partner by understanding compliance in the context of business/operations. They would also gain leadership and communication skills to push the compliance agenda internally.

The courses will be taught by globally renowned faculty from ISB along with experienced industry practitioners and consultants, the release said.

CII President Naushad said, “We believe that companies will benefit immensely from the Compliance Management Programme by equipping their management with the skills and exposure to establish and develop necessary norms that will improve ethical practices and transparency in business.”

The program is in line with the recommendation of CII’s National Committee on Integrity and Transparency in Governance to assist the Indian industry to be more competitive and compliant.

GE will provide technical content and practical industry expertise and experience for the Program. ISB will augment the course with its management faculty as compliance officers and step up to take their place as senior management as part of its Centre for Executive Education (CEE) portfolio.
