ESMT One Year MBA 2021: Early Decision Application Deadline on April 2

The one-year full-time MBA program at ESMT is noted for its small cohort and focus on innovation and technology. It also offers the locational advantage of being based in Berlin, a city with a vibrant entrepreneurial spirit.

While the 2020 batch started classes in January, the school maintains a rolling admission process so that you could submit the application at any time of the year.

Application Deadlines for 2021

For January 2021 intake, April 2 will be the Early decision deadline. If you submit the application by that date you will have the first chance to grab a seat. June 3 will the Early bird tuition discount deadline.

If you have plans to enroll in the optional pre-MBA courses from October to December, you should put in the application by the July 2 deadline. Students not needing a visa to enter Germany could apply after this deadline. These courses include intensive German language classes in Berlin.

The October 1 deadline is important as most of ESMT’s competitive scholarships are awarded by this date. However, applying before October 1 would not increase your chances of landing a scholarship. There will also be partial scholarships available even after this date.

November 4 will be the last deadline for those requiring a visa to enter Germany. If the class becomes full by this date, the candidates would be waitlisted. The next deadline on December 2 is for those who do not need a visa to enter Germany. Applications submitted after this date will still be considered on a case by case basis.

At present, applicants from Australia, Brazil, Canada, El Salvador, EU, Honduras, Israel, Japan, New Zealand, South Korea and the United States do not need visas to enter Germany as a student. However, as these rules are subject to change without notice, you should confirm the position with ESMT or your nearest German Embassy/Consulate.

Graduates from Chinese universities are required to undergo an APS procedure in order to be able to study at a German university.

ESMT MBA Program

The student intake is around 65 students from more than 30 countries. The program focuses on managing big data, sustainable business development, entrepreneurship and global strategic management.

Apart from classroom learning, 50% of the program is directed at personal and professional development through work in diverse teams, discovering your passions and limits and questioning of conventional thinking.

The core courses comprise Managerial Decision Making, Organizational Behaviour, Operations and Supply Chain, Data Analytics for Managers and Accounting.

The specialized track has Managerial Analytics, Innovation & Entrepreneurship and Strategic Leadership. Each track ends with an “in-practice” week to work on simulation projects or visit to relevant companies and organizations.

Managerial Analytics will provide you the skills and knowledge needed to manage analysts and drive insightful decision-making processes. Strategic Leadership will help you develop the skills to design, evaluate, and execute complex growth strategies across borders and in large corporations.

Eligibility Criteria

You should have an undergraduate degree or equivalent qualification with at least three years of full-time work experience after graduation. You are required to present GMAT or GRE scores. The average GMAT score is 640.

Those candidates who are not native English speakers should present TOEFL scores (95 minimum), PTE score (64 minimum), IELTS score (7 minimum) or the scores of other English proficiency tests. ESMT Berlin accepts MyBest scores for the TOEFL iBT test, in addition to TOEFL iBT scores from a single test date.

If English is your native language or you earned a university degree exclusively taught in English you do not need to take an English proficiency test.

ESMT’s admissions team considers the applications on the basis of certain key qualities that include excellent analytical ability, both quantitative and qualitative, an international outlook, intercultural competence and a responsible approach to business.

The candidates should have proven teamwork skills in stressful situations, leadership potential, especially for high-performance career growth in a global environment and a willingness to learn from others.

How to Apply

You should fill-up the online application form with your personal particulars including academic and professional details.

You have to provide answers to the Essay questions and submit your resume. Two recommendations are needed along with your test scores and copies of your university transcripts.

After the first screening, if you meet all the requirements, you will be called for a personal interview either at ESMT’s Berlin campus or via Skype. The interview will be conducted by an ESMT professor, director, or senior professional. It lasts for about an hour. Admitted applicants will receive both admission and scholarship decisions, if applicable, at the same time soon after the committee meetings.

To confirm attendance and reserve your place in the program, you must pay a deposit of €4,000 toward your tuition by the date indicated in the offer of admission.

The tuition fee for the full-time, one-year program is €43,500. It includes the cost of books and cases. Travel expenses for the Global Network exchanges are to be paid separately.

In addition to tuition, you should budget enough money for relocation and living expenses of around €1,000 to €1,500 a month.
