The Class of 2017, the 10th batch of PGPEX students at IIM Calcutta managed to get an average salary of Rs 20.14 lakh and highest salary of Rs 30.55 lakh at the Final Placement.

Compared to the previous year, both the average salary and highest offer registered a drop. A total 53 students of the 9th batch of PGPEX at IIM Calcutta had received 61 offers with the highest salary at Rs 54 Lakh and average salary at Rs 25.33 Lakh at the Final Placements in 2016.

Some of the major recruiters were Accenture, Cognizant, Virtusa, OLA, Zensar Technologies, WNS Global Services, Bandhan Bank, Sasken Communication Technologies, L & T InfoTech, Decimal Technologies Pvt. Ltd and RS Software.

This year, a total number of 64 students participated in the placement while 2 students opted out.

The salary figures include international offers, converted to Indian Rupees using the Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) method. The figures would have been higher if market exchange rates were used instead, the school said.

In the sector-wise distribution of offers, IT Services came up with the largest number at 26 followed by IT Services & Products at 9, Telecom and Banking at 5 each, KPO 3, Service, Education and Automobile 2 each.

Consulting, Consumer Electronics, Healthcare, Infrastructure, Energy, IT Consulting, Manufacturing, Market Research, Social Entrepreneurship and Management Consulting at 1 each complete the total number of 64 offers.

The roles offered to the graduates range from mid-to-senior level with designations such as AVP-IT Innovation, AVP-Operations, AVP-Grade, Academic Director, Senior Consultant, Manager (Projects) – Communication, Key Account Manager, Manager-Digital Practice, Manager-IT Products and Senior Group Manager.

The first time recruiters include Aspire Systems, Basix Group, JK Paper, L&T – Smart World & Communication, NIIT, Philips, Shaldor, RS Software, WNS Global Services and Dr. Reddy.

An International Offer came from Shaldor, a prominent Strategy Consulting firm based in Tel Aviv, Israel.

The class of 2017 with a batch size of 68 included 10 female students. The average work experience was 92.6 months (around 7 years). While 34% of the students came with international experience the class had an average international work experience of 9 months.

The average GMAT Score was 685 with median 690 and maximum 760. Engineers comprised 96% of the class and students with Post Graduate degrees 12%.

In industry experience, 35% were from IT/ITES, 19% Manufacturing, 15% Energy, 6% Automobile, Engineering, Health Care, Banking/Financial Services 3% each, Electronics 2% and FMCG 1%.
