IIMA 12th Batch PGPX Sees Increased Number of Participants at 115

The 12th batch of the one-year full time residential Post Graduate Programme in Management for Executives (PGPX) 2017-18 has got underway with increased diversity and number of participants at 115.

The students have an average GMAT score of around 700. Since the program is meant for professionals with work experience, their average age is around 32 years. They have an average total work experience of 8.5 years, and international experience of two years.

Inaugurated on April 13 by IIMA Director Professor Ashish Nanda, the batch is one of the most diverse till date. In terms of educational background, 25% are non-engineers. In work-experience, the participants are broadly from 18 industries, innumerable functional areas and 102 companies.

In terms of nationality, the batch has 3 international participants. In gender, 25% of the batch are women. In international work-experience, 57% of the class has worked abroad.

Earlier, talking to reporters on the sidelines of the 52nd Annual Convocation of the Institute on March 24, Prof. Nanda had said, “We have gone for two sections for our PGPX program.” In effect, it meant an increase in the number of seats to 120 from the earlier 85.

While the number of seats was increased to 90 for the 2016-17 batch, the number of applications had registered a dip last year, after a steady rise for the past four years. The PGPX program had received 923 applications for 2016-17, while the number was 1,151 for 2015-16, according to IIMA officials.

The PGPX, launched in 2006, has seen 900 students graduating so far. The Program Fee for PGPX 2017-18 is pegged at Rs. 24.50 Lakh plus applicable taxes and cost of International Immersion Programme (IIP). The fee was last raised in 2015 from Rs. 21.5 lakh in the previous year.

The fees cover tuition, books & course materials, accommodation, food charges (for those who are staying in SSH) and other service facilities such as library, computing, network changes etc. However, it does not include the cost of International Immersion Programme (IIP). Utilities such as electricity, telephone, laundry, sports/gym subscription are additional and to be paid as per usage charges.
