Founded in 1961, IIM Calcutta (Indian Institute of Management Calcutta) is the first and only triple-accredited (by AACSB, AMBA, EQUIS) management institute from India. It is one of the top 3 IIMs in the country and is listed among the top management institute in Asia. The institute is ranked as the 3rd best management institution by NIRF.

Admission Process 2020

The institute offers various programs such as MBA, MBA Executive, PGPEX-VLM, PGDBA and doctoral under disciplines of management studies.

  • For MBA program, a valid score in CAT exam (minimum 85 percentile) is required
  • For short-listing the applicants, the institute has altered its weight-age parameters by increasing the weight-age assigned to their past academic performance (at present ratio is – 56% weight-age for CAT score and 44% for past academics).
  • In MBA program, admission is offered on the basis if the cumulative sore of the following:
    • CAT Percentile
    • WAT (Written Ability Test)
    • Personal Interview
    • Past Educational Performance
    • And the work experience (If any)
  • For PGPEX-VLM program, applicants must have engineering degree
  • For PGDBA program, applicants must have a master’s degree with minimum of 60% aggregrate marks

Admission 2020: MBA, MBAEx, PGPEx-VLM, PGDBA Programs

At Post Graduate level, Institute offers 4 programs in the area of management:

  • In MBA Program, the selection is based on CAT score, performance in WAT & PI, Past academic performance and quality of work experience (if any)
  • Overseas applicants are required to have a valid GMAT score for admission to MBA Program
  • For Admission in MBAEx program, applicants are required to have a valid GMAT score
  • To seek admission in PGPEX-VLM program, aspirants must have an engineering degree
  • PGDBAProgram is jointly offered by IIT Kharagpur, ISI Kolkata and IIM Calcutta.
  • For admission to PGDBA Program, aspirants need to appear for a written test followed by a personal interview

PGDBA– Graduate degree in BS/BTech/BE or equivalent Level in 10+2+4 format with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks or equivalent CGPA, OR

 

– A pass in 10+2+5 format  in the Integrated Masters/ BArch/ MBBS or equivalent level with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks or equivalent CGPA, OR

– A pass in Masters Level in 10+2+3+2 format with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks or equivalent CGPA, OR

Candidates of reserved category need to have 55% marks or equivalent CGPA

PGPEx-VLM– Graduate in engineering with minimum 60% marks throughout from 10th class onwards

 

– For self-sponsored(candidates not in service), A minimum 4½ to maximum 10 years of work experience in manufacturing, engineering and related sector is required

– For Sponsored candidates, minimum of 4½ years of work experience is required (there is no upper limit of maximum work experience)

Admission criteria for MBA program of IIM Calcutta is based on the following: 

Stage I: Minimum CAT percentile required for WAT & PI round

At this stage, the minimum required CAT percentile cutoff of applicants is checked, which is later considered for PI and WAT process.

On the basis of the above mentioned CAT percentile, composite score of the applicants will be calculated for the Stage II.

Stage II: Short-listing of applicants for WAT & PI round

In 2nd stage, a composite score of the applicants is calculated on the basis of the following

  1. Percentage of the 10th, 12th & Bachelor’s or equivalent Examinations
  2. CAT Score
  3. Gender diversity factor

Application Process 2020

To apply for various programs offered by IIM Calcutta, aspirants need to follow the below processes:

  • To apply for MBA program, applicants are required to register through official website of CAT exam. Further, on the basis of the CAT score, short-listed applicants will be intimated for WAT & PI rounds.
  • Application for MBAEx and PGDBA programs can be filled through official website of the IIM Calcutta.
  • Applicants need to upload the scanned copy of the following:
  • Latest colored passport size photograph (max size – 500kb)
  • Scanned copy of the educational certificates
  • Applicants need to carry the hard copy of the application form & related documents at the time of personal interview

Q: Does IIM Calcutta offer the scholarships?

A: A: IIM Calcutta provides a variety of scholarship opportunities to meritorious students. BP Poddar Scholarships & India Carbon scholarships offered for 1st year PGDM candidates.
