The National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE) was established by the Union Government in 1963 to be a thought leader in industrial engineering education and research. Its stated mission is to advance transformative education and industry-inspired research in industrial engineering.

The institute offers six postgraduate diploma programs and a Fellow program. These are the Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Engineering (PGDIE), Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Management (PGDIM), Post Graduate Diploma in Project Management (PGDPM) and Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Safety & Environmental Management (PGDISEM).

At the Doctoral Level, Fellowship Programs on Organizational Behaviour & Human Resource Management, Decision Sciences & IT Systems, Project Management, Manufacturing & Systems Management and Industrial Engineering are available.

NITIE Mumbai Admission Process

Admission Eligibility Criteria

For all the post-graduate diploma programs, applicants should possess an Engineering/Technology graduation degree in any branch with aggregate 60% marks (55% in case of SC/ST/PD candidates).

Those in the final year of Engineering/Technology degree are also eligible for applying. Some seats are for candidates sponsored by industrial organization/academic institution with at least two years of work experience.

The applicants should present a valid CAT score. ST/SC/PD candidates are allowed a 5% relaxation in the minimum marks. The application is to be filled in online after registering at the institute’s website.

The application fee for General candidates is Rs 1000 and Rs 500 for SC/ST/PD candidates. Candidates selected for the Group Discussion and Personal Interview at NITIE should bring copies of the application form, the CAT scorecard and call letter.

Sponsored candidates with two years of relevant experience after graduation are exempted from presenting CAT score. They are granted admission after a written test and Personal Interview.

The Post Graduate Diploma in Project Management is a two-year full-time program. The total fee is Rs 6.63 lakh. The entrance exams for the program are GATE and GMAT.

The Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Safety and Environment is a two-year full-time program. The total fee is Rs14.63 Lakh. Candidates should present CAT scores while applying for admission.

Post Graduate Diploma in Manufacturing Managementis a two-year full-time program. The total fee is rs 6.63 lakh. The entrance exams are GATE and GMAT.

NITIE Mumbai Placement

The latest placement season at NITIE Mumbai saw the students getting an average salary package of Rs 19.77 lakh per annum (LPA) and the highest salary package at Rs 46.6 LPA. Of the 384 students who participated in the placement, 106 managed to secure pre-placement offers.

Representatives of as many as 125 major firms had participated in the campus placement. They included Maruti Suzuki, Nestle, HCCB, Dabur, ICICI Bank, Deloitte, Accenture, Castrol, Tata Motors, Asian Paints and TVS.  About 42% of theoffers came from the FMCG and Manufacturing sector and 29 % from the Consulting and IT/Analytics sector.

Scholarships are available for students who need funding to meet the tuition expenses and living costs. If you need a scholarship, inform the institute at the time of admission. However, make arrangements to pay the fee upfront. You may also be able to avail of loans from banks and other financial institutions including the State Bank of India (SBI).

NITIE holds B-Cube, an annual interaction with experienced industry professionals. The students also get opportunities to participate in Group Discussions and Personal Interviews. There are also several avenues to develop hobbies like photography. Interested students could join strategy& quizzing clubs. Student Exchange Program for meritorious students are organized by the international relations committee in collaboration with international universities. NITIE also has partnerships with University of Pittsburgh and University of Alabama in the US besides IIT Bombay and IIT Delhi
