NUS & Chicago Booth To Develop Asia’s Leadership Pipeline

National University of Singapore (NUS) plans to launch a series of executive education programmes for senior business leaders. The first programme aims to strengthen the pool of emerging CFOs.

In a landmark collaboration between two leading business schools from the East and West, the National University of Singapore (NUS) Business School and the University of Chicago Booth School of Business (Chicago Booth) will team up to develop human capital for Asia’s dynamic economies and corporations through a series of executive education programmes for business leaders.

To be named the Asia Executive Series, it kicks off in November 2015 with the intensive one-week ‘Emerging Chief Financial Officers (CFOs) for Asia’ programme which is now accepting applications.

The programme comes at a time when the role of a CFO is becoming more complex than ever. As strategic business partner and advisor to the CEO, today’s CFOs are required to juggle multiple portfolios: strategic leader, investor relations manager, moral conscience and risk manager.

In Asia, where family firms and government organisations dominate, conducting business also presents its own unique challenges and opportunities.

With this dynamic environment in mind, NUS Business School and The University of Chicago Booth School of Business have assembled an interdisciplinary team of faculty from the fields of economics, finance, accounting, strategy and leadership to create the NUS–Chicago Booth Emerging CFOs for Asia Programme.

The Emerging CFOs for Asia Programme will help senior finance executives in Asia strengthen their leadership and analytical skills, effectively manage stakeholder relations, and drive strategic direction to lead enterprise transformation.

The programme will feature leading academics (including Randy Kroszner, Chicago Booth’s Norman R. Bobins Professor of Economics and Governor of the United States’ Federal Reserve from 2006 — 2009) and practitioners, allowing participants to gain deep insights into regional and global economic trends.

The alliance marks Chicago Booth’s first partnership with an Asian university to offer an open enrollment executive education programme, and reaffirms its commitment to the region, particularly Singapore.
