The Düsseldorf-based WHU Otto Beisheim School of Management offers a one-year full-time MBA program with specializations in General Management, Leadership and Entrepreneurship.

Sabine Noe, Recruiting Manager of the MBA Program, asked about the selection of participants for the MBA program said they were on the lookout for team players who are keen to develop their leadership skills and find their own leadership style.

“With students coming from all over the globe and from all academic and professional backgrounds, we appreciate applicants that are open minded and like to work in highly diverse class settings,” she told TopMBA.

“With lots of real-life cases, experimental learning and interactive teaching methods going on in class, you shouldn’t be afraid of facing challenges and trying out new ways of thinking, learning and applying,” she added.

She is also of the opinion that being authentic is what makes the candidate stand out during the admission process.

“With lots of real-life cases, experimental learning and interactive teaching methods going on in class, you shouldn’t be afraid of facing challenges and trying out new ways of thinking, learning and applying,” she added.

Asked about the admission process, Sabine said after scrutiny of the application form and documents, the applicant is invited for a personal interview with two members of the admissions committee, either via Skype or, if feasible, on campus.

The committee comprises the Program Director, the Recruiting Director, Admission Managers and the Career Centre representative. The admissions committee decides on applications based on the application documents as well as the interview.

About the involvement of current students and alumni in the admission process, she said they are included in the entire quality assurance cycle by means of surveys and feedback rounds.

Sabine, asked about what she thought was the biggest myth about applying to business school, said it is not about the best grades and highest scores.

“To us, getting to know the applicant better during the interview is extremely important as we select our batches by means of personalities. In doing so, we prefer quality over quantity. Our small, carefully selected diverse batches at WHU ensure a truly inspiring learning environment and MBA experience,” she added.

WHU says its MBA program is for those seeking to obtain management expertise, climb the career ladder, or change careers – be it the role, industry, function, or geography. It is designed to maximize academic learning, international exposure, professional network, leadership impact and career development.

In order to help participants develop a global business mindset, the program has integrated modules in the USA, India, and China. The program is offered in two formats—one year fulltime MBA and a 24-month part-time program.

The students are also offered extracurricular Management Practice Workshops with expert practitioners covering topics such as Strategy Consulting, Change Management, Design Thinking, and Process Management. (Image Source:wikipedia.org)
