Introduction

The Post Graduate Program in Management (PGPM) offered by IIM, Shillong, is designed to equip students with the required skillset and the ability to solve any kind of management issues with an out-of-the-box thought process. In other words, this program is all about developing managers with a holistic approach.

Not only this, but this course also emphasizes developing analytical skills and working in a dynamic work environment. This way, students can fulfill industrial needs with great leadership, skill sets, and problem-solving ability.

Rich Interdisciplinary Curriculum

There are both types of courses, such as elective and core courses are included in the curriculum. That helps students to learn about functional as well as cross-functional areas of management. IIMS’s curriculum includes everything that an MBA participant needs in order to learn about new skills and for his/her individual growth. The course also includes a capstone course designed by industry experts and other academicians from India and abroad. Multiple seminars are also included.

Eligibility Criteria And Admissions

In order to get into this program, all applicants must have taken and passed the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the Indian Institute of Management. Applicants can find all the details about the CAT examination here.

International candidates must provide GMAT scores.

Eligibility Criteria 

All applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree with at least 50% passing marks or CGPA in any other equivalent degree. There is additional 5% relaxation for applicants belonging to categories such as Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Differently Abled (DA), and Persons with Disability (PWD).

Admissions 

In order to get admission into this program, candidates must have valid CAT scores, and international or overseas candidates must apply with GMAT scores.

Curriculum

Structure of the program 

Both elective and core courses are included in the curriculum, and the whole program is spread into six semesters and two years. Students are only introduced to core courses in the first year of this program, where the elective courses take part in the second year.

Each year of this program is divided into three terms (each has three months duration). After the 1st year, all students must go through the two-month duration of the internship program with businesses and corporates. In the second year, students can choose elective courses for further specialization in their area of the field.

The institute also encourages students to take independent study courses. These courses are capped by a capstone course that helps students to understand the real corporate world and organizational needs.
