The Indian School of Business (ISB) has increased the fee for its One Year Full Time MBA (PGP) from Rs 24 lakh to Rs.26.7 lakh. The programme has now become the costliest MBA programme in India.

ISB Hikes Fee For One Year MBA to Rs 26.7 Lakh
IIM A’s One Year MBA (PGPX) with a fee of Rs 24 lakh is the next most expensive MBA programme in India.
However, there is some relief for students willing to sacrifice some comfort. For students who opt for shared accommodation on campus, the fee is Rs 25,43,700, which includes a non-refundable admission fee of Rs 2,50,000.
As compared to ISB’s one-year management programme, the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM A) charges Rs 24 lakh for its One Year MBA (PGPX), IIM Bangalore charges Rs 22,77,500 for shared accommodation and Rs 23,82,000 for family accomodation, IIM C charges Rs 22,00,000 lakh, while IIM Indore charges Rs  18,00,000 lakh for its One Year MBA.
The fee hike could affect the attractiveness of the PGP at ISB. ISB’s One Year MBA despite being named PGP, with a class averaging 5 years of work experience does not compete with IIM’s PGP which is a two-year pre-experience programme for recent graduates. Placements of ISB’s PGP, at a Rs 18.16 lakh average salary for the Class of 2015, outshine the placements of IIM’s PGP programmes easily. But when you compare the placements of ISB’s One Year MBA to that of IIM’s One Year MBA courses (which still cost less than ISB’s PGP), the story is very different: IIM A reported an average salary of Rs 26.74 lakh, IIM Indore reported an average salary of Rs 18.64 lakh and IIM B reported an average domestic salary of Rs 22.59 lakh for their One Year MBA programmes in 2014.
Some IIMs however charge an additional amount for the international immersion component in which the entire MBA class shifts to a partner B-School in USA, Europe or China for one term or a few weeks.
IIM A admits 90-100 students every year, IIM Bangalore admits 72 students for the programme while ISB’s class size is considerably larger at 813 students.

ISB’s One Year MBA, despite being named PGP does not compete with IIM’s PGP which is a two-year pre-experience programme for recent graduates (for this reason IIMs PGP is accredited as an MBM and not an MBA by top B-School accreditation body Association of MBAs). While ISB’s class averages 5 years of work-ex, students in IIM’s PGP have have little or no work experience. ISB’s placements outshine that of the IIM’s PGP programmes easily – while placements for IIMs PGP programmes range between Rs 12 lakh to Rs 17 lakh depending on the IIM, ISB reported a Rs 18.16 lakh average salary for its 2015 Class.
But when you compare the placements of ISB’s PGP to that of IIM’s post-experience One Year MBA courses, which cost less than what ISB charges for the PGP, the competition for ISB is stiff – infact ISB’s One Year MBA lags behind the IIMs in terms of salary packages secured by the graduating class. While the average domestic compensation package at ISB was Rs 18.16 lakh for the 2015 placement season, IIM A reported an average salary of Rs 26.74 lakh, IIM Indore reported an average salary of Rs 18.64 lakh and IIM B reported an average domestic salary of Rs 22.59 lakh for their One Year MBA programmes in 2014.
