KJ Somaiya Institute of Management Admission Process 2020

The K. J. Somaiya’s Institute of Management (SIMSR), set up in Mumbai in 1981, offers a total of 15 courses across four streams including a two-year full-time MBA program.

The institute offers eight full-time programs and four part-time programs. The two-year full-time programs are MBA program; MBA-International Business; MBA-Retail Management; MBA-Financial Services; MBA-Integrated Marketing Communication; MBA-Health Care Management; MBA-Human Resources; MBA-Sports Management.

The three-year part-time programs are MBA in Information Management, MBA in Finance Management, MBA in Human Resource Management and an MBA in Marketing Management.

And one program for working professional, MBA executive.

MBA Eligibility and Admission Process

Applicants should be graduates in any discipline. They should have sat for any of the standardized aptitude tests including GMAT, CAT, XAT or CMAT and scored above the cut-off marks. The shortlisted candidates will be called to appear for the next phase of the admission process, Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI).

The consolidated merit position of each candidate will be announced based on overall academic achievements and personal traits besides their performance in GD and PI. A counselling round follows where the candidate will be allowed to choose a program based on his/her, preference, availability of seats and place in the merit list. For MCA program admission, Maharashtra MCA Common Entrance Test (MAH-MCACET) scores are accepted. Those seeking admission to PhD should present a valid score in PET.

PG Admission 2020: MBA

The full-time 2-year MBA program has a student intake of more than 540.  Admission is offered to suitable candidates on the basis of merit scores, Qualifying exam result and GD/PI performance.

PG Admission 2020: Part-time MBA

Part-time MBA program stretches to 3years with a student intake of more than 240. The candidate’s suitability is decided on his/her performance in the Online exam, Written case-analysis, Statement of purpose (SOP) and Personal Interview.

Need-Based Scholarship

The scholarship is for those students with limited means to fund their studies.The three scholarships available in this category are the Smt Sakar bai K Somaiya Memorial scholarship, Smt Maya deviS Somaiya Memorial scholarship and Dhiren Savla scholarship.

Merit-Based Scholarship

Students with high academic achievements and grades are eligible for the merit-based scholarships.

Special Interest Scholarship       

This scholarship is in addition to the above-mentioned scholarships offering several options to meet the needs of students from various backgrounds and interests.

Research Fellowships

Research fellowship proposals can be submitted by students or faculty members of the institute. The only condition is that the student proposals must include a faculty member as a mentor.

Subjects Based Scholarships

Subject-based scholarships are disbursed according to financial needs. Students in Humanity and Buddhism are eligible to apply for this scholarship named after Dr. Kalpakam Sankarnarayan.
