An MBA in the UK happens to be a transforming experience for international students as they learn management skills during the course. Different colleges have different entry eligibility. Listed below are the general requirements you should possess

  • Graduation degree of 3-years
  • In case of no honours degree and no professional qualification, you can apply but would need a score of at least 550 on the GMAT.

Most universities in the UK ask for a work experience of at least 2-3 years, for the MBA course. However, few of the universities take admission of fresh graduates. Given below is the list.

Said Business School was established in 1965. It received its current name in 1996. This elite school accepts 320 new applicants each year. MBA in Said Business School takes more of a social approach to business by analyzing basic business principles and concepts and examining the overall impact that they have on society in general. The program embraces multiculturalism and ethnic/racial diversity by encouraging international students to apply. Those who want Admission to Said Business School must submit the following documents.

  • 150 British sterling pounds application fee
  • GMAT score: 690
  • GRE score: 160 (quantitative) 160 (verbal)
  • TOEFL – this serves as proof of fluency and proficiency in English: 110 (applicants must score at least 22 in listening, 24 in reading and writing, and 25 in speaking.) They can submit either the TOEFL or the IELTS. They must score at least a 7.5 (they must score at least 7 on each band.)

Warwick Business School was founded in 1967. It operates off of the principle that businesses can create positive changes in society.   • Application fee: 80 British pounds sterling

  • Proof of fluency and proficiency in English: TOEFL (applicants must score at least 21 listening and writing, 22 in reading, and 23 in speaking.) They can also submit the IELTS (they must score at least a 6.5 on each band.)

  • Resume: 1 page of the latest resume
  • Work experience: applicants must have at least three years of work experience

Alliance Manchester Business School MBA Requirements

This school was established in 1965. Students have many options in terms of an MBA in Alliance Manchester Business School. They can enroll in a 12, 15, or an 18 month program. International students will be guided in terms of internship and job placements, and preparing to land a job from the career center. The career center also has many alumni networks who help with the same. Aspiring applicants must submit the following:

  • Application fee: 60 British pounds sterling
  • GMAT: at least 600 (this was the average score)
  • GRE: 160 (quantitative) and 160 (verbal)
  • Proof of fluency and proficiency in English: TOEFL – at least 90 (applicants must score at least 20 in reading, writing, listening, and speaking.) They can also submit the IELTS – they must score at least 6.5 (they must score at least 6 in each band.)
  • Admissions Essay: this is a total of 4 questions that must be written on one page of A4 paper.
  • References: applicants must submit at least 2 references
  • Online video assessment: applicants must submit a 20-30 minute video that describes themselves in detail to the MBA class
  • Resume: the resume can’t be more than 2 pages
  • Work Experience: applicants must have at least 3 years of work experience
  • Soft skills preferred: applicants with strong intrapersonal skills and good communication skills will be given preference. These applicants must also be energetic, enthusiastic, and ambitious

MBA without GMAT in UK

If you want to do your MBA in the UK but don’t want to take the GMAT you have two choices:

  • Apply to a business school that doesn’t require the GMAT
  • Apply to an alternate full-time MBA program that doesn’t require the GMAT

Some British business schools that don’t require the GMAT are:

  1. University of Central Lancashire – People who take a language proficiency test, meet UG eligibility criteria, and have some basic work experience can apply
  2. Warwick School of Business – Applicants don’t need a GMAT score. However, those applicants who submit a GMAT score will be given first preference. Applicants must submit a GMAT score of at least 650 when asked to.
  3. Birmingham City Business School – This school offers an international MBA full-time program. Therefore, the GMAT is not required.
  4. Lancaster University Management School – Applicants have a choice of submitting either a GMAT score or an outstanding admissions essay.
  5. Durham University Business School – Applicants with a strong academic record and good work experience don’t have to submit a GMAT score. Those whose academic records and work experience are poor must submit a GMAT score.

The MBA programs mentioned above are just a handful of all of the MBA programs in the UK that don’t require a GMAT score for admissions. Applicants can search online for other such MBA programs.

MBA without Work Experience in UK

Not all British business schools require applicants to have work experience. A few of these are:

  • University of Derby – This is a Global MBA program. Applicants must have an excellent academic record and proof of proficiency and fluency in the English language
  • University of Northampton – Applicants who have completed their undergraduate degrees with second class honors are eligible for the full-time MBA at the University of Northampton.
  • University of Greenwich – Applicants are not required to submit proof of full-time work experience.
  • Cardiff University – While applicants with full-time work experience will be given first preference, work experience is not required to apply.

Visa Requirements for an MBA in the UK

International or Indian students must possess a needs Tier 4 (General) Student Visa to study at a full-time MBA program in the UK. The school will sponsor the student once he or she has been admitted. Admitted students are given a Confirmation of Acceptance Studies number. This will make getting their student visa much easier.

Any applicant needs to provide proof of sufficient funds. They can even  work while studying MBA in UK. Students can work 20 hours a week during the academic year. They can work full-time when school is out.

Can an Indian Student apply for jobs in the UK after an MBA?

Indian students can seek employment upon graduation from an MBA program. They must meet some requirements:

  • Completion of a Tier 4 visa qualification – graduates who possess this are exempted from the Resident Labour Market Test. This makes it easy for employers to sponsor them for the Tier 2 work visa.
  • The British government will launch the Graduate visa route in the summer of 2021. This will allow MBA students to stay in the UK for up to two years after graduating. Refer to the United Kingdom’s Work Visa requirement.
