IIFT exam is now held online. This year, the online IIFT exam will be conducted by the  National Testing Agency (NTA), instead of  IIFT-Delhi. The NTA has introduced changes in the IIFT exam paper including the marking scheme.

Time Allocation for Sections of IIFT Exam

The IIFT exam question paper will consist of a minimum of 100 MCQs. Although there id no time limit prescribed for each section of the exam, experts advise that you should set a time-limit for solving each section. The table below is useful as the same prescribes the time to be allocated for each section of the exam.

The number of questions in the IIFT exam changes each year and there is no fixed number of questions. In 2019, IIFT exam had 114 MCQs, whereas in 2020, the IIFT exam paper had 110 questions. The table below showcases the the section-wise number of questions asked in 2019 and 2020 IIFT exam.

IIFT Exam Day Tips

  • First quickly go through the questions. After seeing the questions, allot a time limit for each section of the questions and follow it. However, remember that the attempt should not only be to attempting a high number of questions.
  • Attempt only questions that you are confident about as the exam paper has negative marking scheme.
  • Keep extra time for reviewing the questions in which you are not sure of the answer.
  • Do not waste time in tricky questions. Move on to the next question and come back to later if you have time left.

Q: Is there any specific order to answer the questions?

A: No. There is no order of answering questions that you need to follow.

Q: Is it possible to give the IIFT exam from any computer?

A: No. The candidate can only give the exam from the exam centre mentioned on the candidate’s IIFT admit card.

 

Q: Is it okay if I bring my own calculator to the exam hall?

A: No. It is not allowed to carry any electronics to the exam hall.

Q: Since the NTA is conducting the exam this year iIs there any change in IIFT pattern?

A: Yes, the exam pattern for the IIFT 2020 exam pattern has changed as per which there are a total of 110 questions, with the question paper having four sections. The total has to 300 from 300.

Q: Is the IIFT syllabus and CAT syllabus similar?

Q: In the IIFT exam is there any sectional time limit?

A: No. Although there is no time limit prescribed for each section, sectional time-limit, it is advised to allot a time limit for each section of the questions and follow it as it will help candidates in attempting a high number of questions.

Q: Does the IIFT exam have a negative marking scheme?

A: Yes, there is a negative marking scheme and about 1/3 marks are deducted for wrong answers.

Q: Are there any non-MCQs in the IIFT 2020 exam?

A: Yes, there are non-MCQs in the IIFT exam, however they are less than the number of MCQs.

Q: Will my marks be deducted if I skip a question in the IIFT exam?

A: No marks will be deducted  if you leave or skip any questions as it is not mandatory to answer all the questions.
